Not everything worth teaching fits on a report card.
How to make a friend. What to do with a big feeling. How to keep trying when something feels hard. How to be kind.
These are skills, too. And just like ABCs and 123s, we can teach them.
Early childhood educator, Montessori teacher, children's author and the creator of Big World of Little Dude.
I've spent my career working with young children in classrooms and communities, and I've seen the same thing again and again:
Little humans are expected to know how to share, listen, make friends, manage their feelings, respect someone's space and bounce back when things don't go their way.
But they're still learning how.
I created Big World of Little Dude to make those conversations easier — for children and the grown-ups helping them navigate their big world.
Through stories, characters and simple activities, Little Dude gives children a concrete way to explore some of life's biggest skills.
And the whole thing started with a very little dog.
Today, Little Dude helps children explore kindness, feelings, friendship and so much more — one adventure at a time.
We spend so much time teaching children how to count, read, write and get ready for school. But knowing how to be with other people matters, too.
